Tina Lowrey, HEC Paris
Tina M. Lowrey is Professor of Marketing at HEC Paris. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Her main research interests include children’s consumer behavior, materialism, the application of psycholinguistic theory to marketing communications, and gift-giving and ritualistic consumption. Her most recent research focuses on the roles of sound and shape symbolism in consumer decision-making, and the role of cognitive developmental factors in children’s understanding of consumption.
Her work has appeared in leading marketing journals, including Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Association for Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and International Journal of Research in Marketing. She has also edited two books (Brick & Mortar Shopping in the 21st Century and Psycholinguistic Phenomena in Marketing Communications), and is co-editor of the forthcoming APA Handbook of Consumer Psychology.
She currently serves on the Editorial Review Board of Journal of Consumer Psychology, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Journal of Advertising. She also is a member of the Policy Board of JCR.
Tina has been a member of the Association for Consumer Research since 1988, has co-chaired two Latin American ACR's, one European ACR, served as ACR's treasurer, and was co-chair of ACR's 1st-ever virtual conference in 2020 (which was supposed to take place in Paris, France ;-). Her passions include her research, mentoring doctoral students, serving ACR and SCP, and great food and wine.

Position’s Duties and Responsibilities
The President Elect performs the duties prescribed and approved by the Board of Directors, all of the duties of the President in his/her absence, and in the event a vacancy occurs in the position of President, automatically assumes such position. The President-elect also appoints the chair(s) of the North American Conference for the year of his/her presidency.
