Jennifer Argo, University of Alberta

Jennifer Argo is the Carthy Professor of Marketing at the University of Alberta. She is currently the President of ACR. Her research primarily focuses on the impact of social influences on consumers’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She has published in leading journals including the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, and Psychological Science. She is currently a Co-Editor at the Journal of Consumer Psychology and is on the ERB at the Journal of Marketing and Marketing Letters. She has won the Erin Anderson Award for an emerging female marketing scholar and mentor and was the co-winner of the inaugural ACR Early Career Award. She has previously served ACR as a Board Member (Member-at-Large) and Co-Chaired the ACR 2020 conference, ACR Doctoral Consortium, Early Career Workshop, and Working Paper Session. She has also served the Society for Consumer Psychology as the President of the Society and Chair of the Publications Committee (overseeing JCP and CPR). She has spent her sabbaticals at Erasmus University, Duke University, and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She teaches Principles of Marketing to undergraduates and Consumer Behavior to Ph.D. students.

Position’s Duties and Responsibilities

The Past President participates in and votes on all matters put to the ACR Board of Directors, chairs the Nominations Committee for members of the ACR Board of Directors, appoints two or more members to serve on the Nominations Committee, and serves as a member of the Sheth Long-Term Contribution award (awarded every three years, 2008, 2011, etc.). At the North American Conference, the Past-President attends the Board of Directors Meeting,introduces the President, and presents the Presidential Plaque at the ACR Conference.
