Vicki Morwitz - new Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research

The Association for Consumer Research is honored to announce the appointment of Vicki Morwitz as the new Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research. Dr. Morwitz will serve a 3 year term, beginning January 1, 2021, succeeding current Editor in Chief Angela Y. Lee.


Dr. Morwitz is currently the Bruce Greenwald Professor of Business and Professor of Marketing at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business. Prior to this she was the Harvey Golub Professor of Business Leadership and Professor of Marketing at the Stern School of Business, New York University. She served as Co-Editor of the Journal of Consumer Research (2014–2017), Associate Editor at both the Journal of Consumer Psychology (2009–2014) and the Journal of Marketing Research (2011–2014), on the Annual Review of Consumer Psychology Scientific Advisory Committee (2015–2019), and on numerous editorial review boards. She is a Fellow of the Society of Consumer Psychology (SCP) and served as SCP President (2011).


 “Vicki is a most respected leader in consumer research and marketing, for both her scholarship and her service. I am excited that she will be shepherding JACR in the next few years!” Lee said.


The JACR Editor in Chief Search Committee highlighted some of the key reasons why Professor Morwitz is a superior fit for JACR. They note that her research acumen fits with the aims of JACR. Not only is she a prolific scholar, her work also frequently makes use of secondary data and field experiments, which JACR particularly encourages. Dr. Morwitz also brings a wealth of editorial experience to the role. Her vision for the Journal is consistent with its values and she seeks to expand its reach in fresh and exciting ways.


Dr. Morwitz is a valued and dedicated member of the consumer research community. In line with the prior EICs, Joel Huber and Angela Lee, she is held in very high regard by the field. As a committed member of the Association, she has served as co-chair for an ACR conference, served on ACR’s Advisory Council, and served on Best Paper Award and Early Career Award committees. Her highly active and visible profile bodes well for promoting JACR and is especially crucial while the Journal is still in its fledgling stage. 


“In total, the committee strongly supports Dr. Morwitz as the next EIC. She will be a strong asset to the JACR community, as a partner to the Policy Board, and most importantly, to the scholars, policymakers, and marketing managers who will act as issue editors, authors, and readers of JACR,” the Search Committee said.




The Journal of the Association for Consumer Research is a quarterly journal of thematic explorations from the Association for Consumer Research. The mission of JACR is to broaden the intellectual scope and interdisciplinary influence of the Association for Consumer Research.
