Hello! How May I Helo You? How Written Errors Can Humanize a Communicator

Three experiments demonstrate that typographical errors - a seemingly unintentional aspect of written communication - causes readers to infer that an ambiguous communicator is more human-like. This inference occurs only when the error is explicitly corrected, and subsequently leads to readers sharing more personal information with the communicator.
