2027 ACR Annual Conference

Anaheim, CA

“Flourishing”

What does it mean to flourish?
The theme for the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) 2027 annual conference is “Flourishing.” In a world of economic, societal, technological, and political uncertainty, how can we help human beings lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives? As consumer research scholars, how can we empower consumers to make better and more informed decisions that will increase their own well-being while benefiting society and the planet?

The theme of “Flourishing” also applies to our own community of consumer researchers. Major disruptions, including the evolution of AI, have led some community members to feel less confident about their own career prospects, the field of consumer research, and even the future of higher education. We have a different perspective – we believe that understanding consumers’ beliefs, values, and motivations is more important than ever, and our community is well-positioned to use its collective wisdom and unique skills to create important and impactful knowledge.

We invite innovative and pathbreaking ideas that can potentially lead human beings – consumers and researchers alike – to find joy, success, purpose, and happiness. We intend to bring together the brightest minds from around the world to challenge, share, and sharpen these ideas.

ACR 2027 will take in Anaheim, California, just steps from the world-famous Disneyland Resort – the “happiest place on Earth” for some,  the beating heart of consumerism for others. You’ll have the chance to experience the magic of the Golden State in all its sun-soaked beauty. Join us October 28 – 31, 2027 in beautiful Anaheim for ACR 2027.

Connect. Discover. Flourish.

To lift. How high? Let’s fly.

This year’s ACR is themed around elevation. Let’s bring consumer research perspectives to a higher ground by offering a view of the “bigger picture”. We invite ideas that help lift the circumstance and spirit of consumers who may be struggling economically, socially, culturally, or politically. ACR 2026 will feature research that soars above the fray of tensions and conflict that make consumer life fraught in ways large and small.

ACR 2026 will take place in Chicago, Illinois. The “City of Big Shoulders” on which midwestern Americans have lifted each other up for almost two centuries. Chicago elevates the human spirit through blues, jazz, and art deco architecture, and literally elevates hundreds of thousands of consumers and marketers every day on the “El (elevated) train.” It’s the “City that Works”, pushing upward and onward.
