Simona Botti is Associate Professor of Marketing at London Business School. Prior to joining London Business School she was a faculty member at Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University, and at SDA Bocconi, Bocconi University. Simona received a BA from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and a MBA and PhD in Marketing from the University of Chicago.

Simona’s research is on consumer behavior and decision making, with a focus on the psychological processes underlying perceived personal control and how different ways of providing and exercising control (choice, power, information) influence well-being. She has published in leading psychology and marketing journals. She received the 2007 Robert Ferber Award and the 2012 Journal of Consumer Behavior best article award. Her paper “Turning the page: The Impact of Choice Closure on Satisfaction,” co-authored with her doctoral student, received the 2104 Robert Ferber Award.

Simona is Associate Editor at International Journal of Research in Marketing and Journal of Consumer Psychology, and on the editorial boards of Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Behavior. She received Outstanding Reviewer awards both at Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Marketing.

Simona has been an active member of Association for Consumer Research since 1999. She co-chaired the 2013 ACR Conference in Chicago, Illinois, co-organized the Roundtable session at the 2007 ACR, was on the program committee of the 2015, 2012, 2011, and 2008 annual conferences, and participated in several ACR Doctoral Symposia and Mid-Career Mentorship Workshops as invited faculty.

The International Perspectives Director is responsible for representing the International (non-North America) perspective on the ACR Board. Simona is well qualified to serve on this role. She has lived, studied, and worked in the US, Europe, and the Middle-East. She has been particularly engaged with the European Marketing Association by co-chairing the consumer behavior track and the Doctoral Colloquium at annual EMAC conferences. Simona has also been involved in strengthening the links between the North-American and non-North American academic communities by co-chairing the first international Society for Consumer Psychology conference in Florence, Italy (2012) and the first Behavioral Decision Research in Management conference held outside of North-America, in London, UK (2014).

Position’s Duties and Responsibilities

The Perspectives Director (International) is responsible for representing the international (non-North America) constituent of ACR and is in charge of developing new activities that best serve this constituent.  Responsibilities include voting, budgets, recommendations to the Board, and evaluating grants and donations. Additional duties include chairing the travel stipend program for PhD students to attend the ACR conference.
