She co-chaired the 2004 annual conference with Akshay Rao, and together they introduced the electronic submission and reviewing system to ACR, as well as electronic presentations at the conference. Geeta has also served on the ACR Board of Directors in the role of Treasurer in 2006. As President of ACR, she instituted the Early Career Award for distinguished scholarly contribution to consumer research. Besides serving as a forum for the exchange of ideas among researchers from different disciplines, she views ACR as playing an instrumental role in creating and maintaining intellectual and social networks, shaping careers, and providing helpful direction and mentoring for junior faculty and doctoral students. She hopes to play a role in continuing to facilitate these activities in the years to come.
